I’ve been creating and crafting since I was a child—art has always been my passion, and over the years, it’s grown into my life’s work. From oil paintings and mosaics to fabric painting (like tablecloths) and woodcraft home décor, I love working with a variety of materials. Christmas is my absolute favourite season—I especially enjoy making Santas, Nativity scenes, and festive décor that bring warmth and joy into people’s homes.
You can find a wide selection of my handcrafted art and décor at local craft markets in and around Cape Town. Being part of the craft market community has allowed me to share my work directly with people who appreciate the detail and heart that goes into every piece.
For the past 16 years, I’ve also taught art at a private school in Cape Town, and I continue to offer art classes from my own studio. Teaching is incredibly fulfilling—whether it’s in the classroom or during studio sessions. I learn just as much from my students as they do from me, and watching someone unlock their creativity never gets old.
Shonnah’s Art Studio is more than just a workspace—it’s a creative sanctuary. From the moment you see the Welcome Mosaic at the entrance, you’ll know: this is a place where Art isn’t just encouraged—it’s essential. Whether you’re a complete beginner or an experienced artist, there’s space here for you to grow, explore, and create.

“Teaching and sharing my knowledge and skills is very satisfying and I learn something new everyday from my kids at school and my students in my studio.”
– Shonnah Steyn
